FAQs

  • At Youth Insearch, young people are referred to our services through a structured intake and assessment model. Here’s how it works:

    1. Referral Submission: When a referral is made for a young person, it is sent to either the Team Leader or Regional Manager in the relevant area.

    2. Weekly Meetings: Each region holds weekly referral and intake meetings that include Social Workers, Youth Workers, and Peer Workers. During these meetings, the team discusses incoming referrals, assigns assessments and reviews previous intake assessments.

    3. Tailored Support: This comprehensive process ensures that every referred participant receives support that is tailored to their individual needs.

    4. Tracking and Follow-Up: We continuously monitor all referral and assessment outcomes through our client management system for efficient tracking and follow-up.

If you have more questions about our referral process, please feel free to contact us!

    4. Meet Our Leaders: Our leaders, who are carefully selected based on their lived experience and qualifications, are trained in trauma-informed care and personal development.

    5. Implementation: Once we agree on the details, we’ll work together to bring our programs to your school.
  • There is no cost to attend for participants or their caregivers.

The actual costs of the program are covered by the fundraising efforts of the Foundation. We have worked hard to make this happen to ensure that no young person is denied access because they do not have the means to pay.

  • The Youth Insearch program consists of three core components:

    1. Weekend Workshops

    1. Community Support

Community support includes weekly support groups, peer-to-peer support, case management, and mentoring.

    2.  Leadership Opportunities

Youth Insearch offers Leaders Training which is an essential part of the program, teaching young people the skills needed to become a Leader within their community. All these elements combine to create significant change in young people.

  • To register your child for Youth Insearch, please follow these steps:

    1. Check Eligibility: Ensure that your child meets the eligibility criteria for our programs. Any young person can join to build self-awareness, self-worth, or help others. Sharing experiences is a key learning tool. Youth Insearch cannot accept those needing detox or in acute mental illness until stable.

    2. Discuss Registration: Engage in a conversation about the registration with a Youth Insearch team member, who will be happy to guide you through the process.

    3. Consent for Younger Applicants: For children aged under 18, parental or guardian consent is required.

  • At Youth Insearch, we carefully select our leaders based on specific criteria that highlight both lived experience and formal qualifications. Here’s an overview of our selection process:

    1. Experience Requirements: All Leaders must attend a minimum of three Weekend Workshops and have been alcohol and drug-free for at least three months before applying. They should also demonstrate a commitment to their own healing journey.

    2. Formal Qualifications: Team Leaders typically possess educational qualifications in fields such as Social Work or Youth Work, equipping them with the necessary skills to effectively oversee our services.

    3. Lived Experience: Peer Workers and Trainee Leaders bring valuable lived experience and have completed training in trauma-informed care and leadership practices. They are not only trained to facilitate group workshops but also to provide crucial support to other young people facing similar challenges.

This unique blend of training and personal experience ensures that our leaders are well-prepared to guide and support others on their path to healing and empowerment. If you have more questions about our leadership selection process, feel free to reach out!
