Peer Leaders Complete Final Stage of Training
This month, a new group of Youth Insearch Peer Leaders completed Stage 3 of our Leadership Training Program, the final stage in their development as peer leaders.
Over five empowering days, these young people built advanced skills in:
• Group facilitation and conflict navigation
• Trauma-informed peer mentoring
• Communication and ethical leadership
• Risk awareness and safety management
The training gave Peer Leaders hands-on experience in leading groups, supporting others and managing difficult conversations safely. They supported one another through challenges, shared their stories with honesty and found new confidence in their own strengths.
"Something that surprised me is just how much we have developed ourselves over stage 1 to stage 3 for all of us we all grew a significant amount and gained a lot of skills." - Kayleb, Trainee Leader.
Graduates will be formally recognised in November at Government House, Kirribilli, alongside Her Excellency the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Ms Sam Mostyn AC.
Following graduation, Peer Leaders co-facilitate Weekend Workshops, lead weekly Support Groups and mentor other young participants across Australia. In 2023, over 50 Peer Leaders were actively engaged in program delivery across three states.
