Leaders Training Celebration Dinner
The recent Stage 3 Leaders Training Celebration Dinner marked the culmination of an 18-month leadership development journey for nine Trainee Leaders, known as the "Shooting Stars."
The evening provided an opportunity to recognise not only their extraordinary achievements throughout the program, but also the personal growth, resilience, and leadership they have demonstrated along the way.
Joined by members of the Youth Insearch Board, staff, volunteers, supporters, family, and friends, each Trainee Leader shared their leadership journey and reflected on the experiences that shaped them throughout the program. Their speeches explored where they began before Youth Insearch, the challenges they have overcome, and the confidence, self-awareness, and sense of purpose they have developed through training. Together, their stories highlighted the transformative impact of investing in young people and creating opportunities for them to lead.
Stage 3 forms the final part of Youth Insearch's intensive leadership development pathway, building on the foundations established during Stages 1 and 2. Throughout the program, Trainee Leaders strengthen their communication, presentation, and facilitation skills while developing the confidence to use their lived experience to support and inspire others. Delivering a speech at the Celebration Dinner represents a significant milestone in that journey and a powerful demonstration of the growth achieved over the course of the training.
Guests were also treated to a moving performance of A Million Dreams by Victorian trainee Ash, alongside a visual presentation set to the team's chosen theme song, Aeroplanes. Together, these moments celebrated the friendships, shared experiences, and lasting connections formed throughout the Shooting Stars' journey.
What also makes the Celebration Dinner particularly meaningful is that it is planned and delivered entirely by the Trainee Leaders themselves. From selecting the theme and colour scheme to designing decorations, coordinating activities, and managing the evening's program, the trainees take responsibility for bringing the event to life. In doing so, they apply the skills they have developed throughout the training while gaining valuable experience in collaboration, leadership, and event delivery.
The Celebration Dinner was a fitting reflection of the commitment, teamwork, and determination demonstrated by the Shooting Stars over the past 18 months. As they complete this stage of their leadership journey, they do so with the skills, confidence, and experience to continue making positive contributions within their communities. We congratulate each of the Trainee Leaders on this significant achievement and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to create in the years ahead.
