Rotary Club of Mitchell River member Bernie Farquhar is one of our volunteer Support Adults in Bairnsdale, and during the Rotary centenary celebration was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Sapphire Award, which is bestowed upon a former recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

Rotary Clubs have been long time supporters of Youth Insearch, and recently came together to celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australia. Congratulations to Rotary for your sustained presence within Australian communities, and in Victoria, we acknowledge the following as supporters of Youth Insearch.

  • Rotary Club of Bairnsdale
  • Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise
  • Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance
  • Rotary Club of Mitchell River
  • Rotary Club of Orbost

In receiving the Paul Harris Fellowship Sapphire Award, Bernie has been acknowledged for the wonderful work he has done previously and recently with the East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid and his involvement in the Lucas Mill Project which is a joint project between the Lions and Rotary Clubs, and the Sarsfield Community Recovery Committee.

The Lucas Mill Project provide milling services free of charge to help provide landowners with internal fencing, stockyards or sheds from trees fallen due to the recent Bushfires. This project provides employment, a use for fallen timber, and gives community members the ability to help their community to rebuild lives and hope after the fires.

"The appreciation and smiles we are getting from the landowners is overwhelming."

Rotary Club of Mitchell River have been great supporters of Youth Insearch through fundraising events, and their members Bernie Farquhar and Debbie Brient are both Youth Insearch Support Adults.

Bernie has been involved with Youth Insearch since September 2016, and in 5 years has attended 11 weekend workshops, and has been involved in the capacity as a Support Adult, bus driver, arranging laundering services through his mate, fundraising, networking, looking out for opportunities for Youth Insearch, and putting us in contact with other Rotarians.

Thank you Bernie for your continued support, and for Rotary Australia for the work you do across communities.
